In the 12th century, the
city of Damascus, famous for its textiles, so far outstripped all other places
for beauty of design that it gave the cloth its modern name. Later on in France
during the period of Louis XVI , there were many beautiful symmetrical designs
developed, often with stripe effects combined with flowers and leaves. Damasks
and Brocades are heavy weight poly/cotton fabrics that can range from floral to
geometric prints.
